Charter of Sovereignty

In the year 2282, a historic decision by the Senate ushered in a new set of laws governing the acquisition of space, asteroids, planets, and even entire star systems by individuals or corporations. These laws established a comprehensive framework outlining the levels of autonomy and protection for different types of holdings.

Claim Beacons

A claim beacon, akin to a ship's registration beacon, possesses the capability to broadcast signals spanning at least 50 AU (Astronomical Units). Each transponder is designated with the name of the claim, prefixed by A.C.B. (Accord Claim Beacon).

Holding Types

Registered Claim

A registered claim refers to a parcel of land or space lacking infrastructure but duly surveyed and authorized by the Accord Land Registration Authority (USSALRA). An individual or corporation lays claim to such territory. To maintain a registered claim, a recurring fee must be paid each Journey. Claims can be disputed for a duration of 2 Journeys, provided the disputing party demonstrates a readiness to establish some form of holding within the contested claim.

Registered Holding

A registered holding encompasses land or structures occupying a stationary or orbital location, claimed by an individual, group, or registered with the USSA corporation. Such territory must maintain a radius smaller than 1000 km from the claim beacon. Holders of registered holdings enjoy full sovereign rights and may apply for USSA membership. Accepted Holdings benefit from protection by USSA forces if situated within the Inner Rim and continue contributions to the USSA Treasury.

Registered Settlement

  • Small Settlement: 1000 - 5000 inhabitants
  • Medium Settlement: 5001 - 50000 inhabitants
  • Large Settlement: 50001 - 1 million inhabitants
  • Very Large Settlement: 1 million - 10 million inhabitants
  • Registered settlements do not possess Senate membership, but they may, under specific circumstances, be represented alongside territories or states. Depending on their size, Inner Rim settlements make regular contributions to the Accord. In return, they enjoy protection from the Accord Navy's forces, access to various divisions and initiatives, and most notably, the larger ones have permanent Accord Garrisons, regional offices, and, in some cases, military bases and substantial civilian service infrastructure.

    Registered Territory

Registered Territory encompasses celestial bodies with populations exceeding 10 million or starbases housing more than one million inhabitants. Such entities have the authority to enact their own laws, rules, and taxation policies, provided they can enforce them and adhere to USSA regulatory guidelines. Registered Territories enjoy comprehensive protection from the Accord Navy Force (USSAN) and hold junior membership in the USSA Senate.

    Registered Sovereign State

Registered Sovereign States exercise dominion over entire star systems or multiple star systems. They have the autonomy to establish their own laws, rules, and taxation systems, contingent on their capacity for enforcement and alignment with USSA regulatory standards. These esteemed entities hold senior membership within the USSA Senate.
