Jolyne was born a male child with amnesia in an aristocratic village in the North-east. His mother was horrified when she realized that she had not given birth to a female like she had wished, and began brainwashing Jolyne into thinking he was actually a she at a very young age. Once Jolyne turned eleven, however, he grew tired of his mother buying him dresses and jewelry and decided to cut his hair to experiment a bit. His mother was enfuriated by this, thinking he'd discovered that he was actually male, and threw Jolyne to the streets where he stayed for an entire year until he was practically kidnapped by an extrovert named Maureen.
