Kitsurai

The Kitsurai descend from Kitsu'gami, the Fox Mother and her daughters, who embody cunning, grace and mystical power. Kitsurai are fox-like in appearance, with pointed ears, sleek fur and one or more bushy tails. Their fur colors range from fiery orange and white to silvery hues, often marked with subtle spiritual patterns.

  • Fox's Grace. You have proficiency in the Deception or Persuasion skill (your choice).
  • Mystic Tail. You know the Minor Illusion cantrip. At 3rd level, you can cast Charm Person once per long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
  • Veil of Many Faces. As an inherent gift of your lineage, you can weave magical illusions to alter your appearance. You can cast the disguise self spell without expending a spell slot or requiring material components. However, this version of the spell has the following unique properties:
  • Endless Duration: The effect of disguise self lasts indefinitely until you choose to dismiss it (no action required).
  • Resilience to Dispelling: The illusion cannot be dispelled against your will, even by magical means, unless you are unconscious or dead.
  • Illusionary Nature: The transformation remains an illusion and is subject to the usual limitations of the disguise self spell (e.g., changes to appearance do not alter your physical dimensions or provide physical benefits).
  • Fox Form. As an action, you can transform into a fox, adopting a sleek, agile form reminiscent of your spiritual ancestry. While in this form, you retain your mental ability scores, hit points and proficiencies, but you cannot cast spells, speak or wield weapons. Your equipment melds into your form, becoming unusable until you revert to your normal shape.
  • Movement. Your walking speed becomes 40 feet.
  • Size. Your size becomes small.
  • Evasion. You have advantage on Dexterity saving throws against effects that you can see, such as traps and spells like Fireball.
  • Foxfire Dash. While in fox form, you can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see as part of your movement. When you do so, your form leaves behind shimmering foxfire for a moment before disappearing.
