Kitsune resemble foxes and are skilled shapeshifters.
Note: In Naboombu, Kitsune are not considered Canines, despite being officially classified as Lupins. They would be relegated to the Fox classification.
Low-light vision: Lupins can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
Keen senses: Lupins receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception skill checks.
Change appearance: Kitsune transform their appearance. The Kitsune decide what they look like, including their height, weight, facial features, sound of their voice, hair length, coloration, and distinguishing characteristics, if any. They can make themselves appear as a member of another race, though none of their statistics change. They also don't appear as a creature of a different size than themselves, and their basic shape stays the same, if they're bipedal, they can't use this spell to become quadrupedal, for instance. At any time for the duration of the spell, they can use their action to change their appearance in this way again.
Master shapeshifter: Kitsune have mastered their natural ability to change their body, and exceeded it. They are also more socially adept than other Lupins; gaining the following bonuses: Kitsune gain proficiency with the disguise kit. They can benefit from this tool proficiency even without having the kit with them. If they’re already proficient with this tool (from class, background, etc), their proficiency bonus is doubled for any check they make with it. When Kitsune use their Change Appearance racial trait, their clothing and other equipment change in appearance, size, and shape to match their new form. They can use their shape-shifting abilities to make themselves elusive and hard to hit. While they aren’t wearing armor or using a shield, calculate their AC as 10 + their Charisma modifier + their Dexterity modifier. Kitsune gain the ability to see the true form of any shapechanger while the creature is within 30 feet of them and within line of sight.
Scent: Lupins can detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. They can also identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights. They can detect opponents within 30 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 60 feet; if downwind, it drops to 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at triple normal range. When they detect a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. Lupins can take a move action to note the direction of the scent. When detected creatures are within 5 feet of the source, they pinpoint the source's location. They can follow tracks by smell, making a Wisdom (or Survival) check to find or follow a track. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10 (no matter what kind of surface holds the scent). This DC increases or decreases depending on how strong the quarry's odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. The ability otherwise follows the rules for survival checks. Lupins tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility.
