Alpha of the Gloam Pack

All allied Thornshadow Wolves within 30 feet gain:

  • Advantage on attack rolls while the Alpha is conscious
  • Advantage on saving throws against being frightened

If the Alpha dies, allied wolves must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom save or be frightened for 1 round.

Thorn-Crowned Hide

A creature that hits the Alpha with a melee attack within 5 ft. takes 7 (2d6) piercing damage

Shadowbound Pounce

If the Alpha moves at least 20ft. straight towards a creature and hits with a bite attack on the same turn, the target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength save or be knocked prone.

If the target is prone, the Alpha may make two claw attacks as a bonus action.

Fey Predator

The Alpha has advantage on attack rolls against creatures that are:

  • Prone
  • Frightened
  • Restrained
  • Or affected by a curse or magical fear effect

The Alpha moves up to 15ft. without provoking opportunity attacks and makes one claw attack.

Pack Intercept[

When a creature targets the Alpha with an attack, one allied Thornshadow Wolf withing 5ft. may impose disadvantage on that attack by interposing itself.

Usual Tactics

  • Opens with Gloam Howl to reposition the pack and apply fear.
  • Focuses down prone or restrained targets.
  • Uses Pack Intercept to survive longer and sell the pack dynamic
  • Attempts to retreat into darkness if reduced below 25 HP, drawing the party deeper into the woods

Just as twisted a mockery of wolves as it's lesser kin, the Thornshadow Alpha bears a crown of fused antler and thorned vines, a twisted symbol of its authority.
