You blow a pinch of sand into the air and speak the magic word to create a 30ft square of quicksand. This area of quicksand is considered difficult terrain with every one foot traveled uses two feet of movement. If the creature takes an action while in quicksand they must perform a Dexterity saving throw, sinking deeper into the quicksand on a failure or staying at the same depth with a success. If a creature sinks to the second level of quicksand their movement speed is reduced further to every one foot traveled uses five feet of movement. If a creature on the second level takes an action they must make another Dexterity saving throw, sinking completely under the sand and having their movement reduced to zero on a failure, and staying at the same depth on a success.
If the spell ends while creatures are enveloped in quicksand they rise to the surface with no movement penalty.
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher you extend the duration of the spell by one minute per spell slot above 4th.
