A creature of equal parts terror and majesty, Darling's natural form is unnerving to say the least. Superficially female, her form resembles nothing so much as a featherless harpy, or perhaps a siren with thick, chitinous structures resembling wings with hand-like appendages at the wrist joints.
Well-formed for her scrawny figure, her physical features appear to be in a constant state of flux and change from instant to instant; minorly different for each observer(or the same observer on different glances) but consistent enough in their consistency to be a recognizeable trait of hers, as though her wandering shadow weren't an identifying feature in itself.
Indeed, Darling's shadow - whom she has dubbed Leliel, or Lily - is a bizarre creature of its own, existing primarily as a vague outline in space that projects a shadow of its own, which can expand into some sort of portal to a realm of pure liquid darkness, though it's not entirely independent, functioning as a sort of extension of its
None alive know what Darling was before she became the harpy-esque monstrosity she is now, though the occasional rumor will surface that she was once a proper harpy, stripped of her wings and cast out of her tribe for some reason or another before she turned to magic to rebuild her body. Another continual rumor is that she was infected with some form of lycanthropy that interacted poorly with some sorcerous bloodline or another, resulting in a unique, nightmarish strain of the curse - this rumor holds a bit more weight as silver significantly weakens her, unraveling her more potent magics and forcing her into a more basic form. The bird-like form is simply because she wanted to be intimidating, and couldn't decide whether birds or humans were scarier when reshaping herself - she simply hasn't figured out how to return to her original shape yet.
The truth is much more simple: Darling was once a humble trapdoor spider until the Godsrain occurred, gifting her with a human-like intellect and a perception that allows her to ply the threads that make up reality like any other web.
At some point, she became entangled with a cleric of Desna, who taught her much of dreams and the arts, though she met her tragic end through some accident or another that left this entity burdened with a heavy guilt and she carries the name Darling in memory of her.
The termination of this relationship has left her understanding of reality fundamentally altered as well, instilling in her an obsession with the boundaries of her physical form that manifests as nudist tendencies - wearing any form of clothing or armor reminds her of her own physical shape, inducing a sort of panic attack, though this awareness of her own physicality has led to a deeper understanding of her magics.
Ultimately, however, an adventuring career is merely a hobby - her true passion is the stage, with her ultimate goal being to become a legendary actor in her own right, even if she lacks the focus and discipline to become a proper bard and is prone to wandering away from civilization for months at a time.
Further setting her dream back is a wildly hedonistic personality, leaving her prone to flirtatious behavior, keeping company with prostitutes of every level of society, overindulging in expensive luxuries, and worst of all adopting lovers at random. In an effort to help mitigate these habits on the logic that less money will mean less to spend on leisure and luxuries, and out of the deep guilt of what happened to her former lover, Darling decided to devote half of her income to the church of Desna.

Leliel - or Lily, as she's referred to - is barely an entity of its own, consisting of nothing more than this entity's shadow animated in a manner paying homage to Desna's own Black Butterfly(allegedly). Its true form on the material plane is merely an orb of 'presence' not entirely dissimilar to an Unseen Servant, though lacking any of the utility in favor of functioning as a sort of portal into a pool of liquid shadow somewhere between dimensions. Somehow, it's impossibly smarter than its creator, displaying a much more acute grasp of magic's workings, and a far more clever approach to magic in general.
It also possesses something that can be considered an implement, taking the form of an orbiting ring of desaturated rainbow light with a physical presence just the same as the creature it orbits.
