You invoke a malevolent curse of desolation to curse a village, town, or city of your choice. A creature recognized as the primary leader or governing authority of the area, must make a Charisma saving throw against your spellcasting DC. On a successful save, the target's becomes aware that somebody attempted to curse them. On a failed save, the target's becomes cursed and is unaware of this. Upon the completion of this curse’s triggering event, the target's automatically advances to stage 1 of this curse.   Triggering event. A rooster crows at dawn, causing the inhabitants to shutter as a chill goes down their spine.   Stage 1. The cursed area starts to become inhospitable, causing livestock to get sick and die. Plants begin to wither and die, as the affected area becomes blighted, unable to support natural life. Water becomes contaminated and undrinkable, causing those who drink it to become sick.   Stage 2. Inhabitants of the cursed area become crazed and mistrusting of their neighbors and strangers. A creature who rests in the area does not gain the benefits of a long rest, and rolls on the Long-Term Madness table each dawn.   Stage 3. The dead no longer rest in the ground, causing all dead creatures to become undead. A creature who died or were buried within the cursed area rise as a zombie, skeleton, ghost, or wight depending on the state of their corpse.   Culmination. Upon failing the final escalation check, the cursed area becomes inhospitable for anything but the undead. Inhabitants become sickly, their skin being covered in infected lesions and sores. Animals avoid the area entirely, water becomes acidic, and the area becomes permanently affected by the contagion spell.
