Description
The arbalest is a crossbow where the bow is made from steel. It's quite heavy and the string is extremely strong. The arbalest has a shorter draw than the crossbow, but compensates with a huge stored power thanks to the steel bow. An arbalest has to be loaded with a crank and pulley, as it's far too stiff to be loaded with hand power alone. The arbalest has an incredible draw weight of around 5000 pounds, but due to the short stroke it's about as powerful as a very heavy bow, and it's range is surprisingly short. The arbalest is ridiculously expensive, mostly owing to the steel bow and the complex loading mechanism.
