Seeker

Goliath clans, by their nomadic nature and their proclivity for mountainous territories, are relatively isolated from civilization and other races. This is not to say, however, that they do not interact with them. In fact, some Goliath clans uphold a tradition that serves this very goal. Whenever the Chieftain or Skywatcher of such a clan feels it is necessary, they assign the role of Seeker to one from their ranks. Seekers are charged with traveling far from the clan, learning and gaining from the other races what they can, and Seeking that which the clan needs most - whether it be knowledge, trade, allies, or blood.
Through the appropriate rituals, you have been chosen as Seeker to your clan. Such an honorable role ties into the custom of Goliath clans to grant their members nicknames. Yours is bound to your role as well as that which you Seek. Depending on the needs of the clan, you might be called Fortuneseeker, Battleseeker, or Loreseeker. It now falls to you to take up this mantle, to carry the name of your clan into the world, and to eventually return having found that which you are to Seek.

Skill Proficiencies Survival and one skill of choice from History, Intimidation, Investigation, or Persuasion, depending on what you are charged to Seek.
Tool Proficiencies Climber's kit.
Languages Choose one standard Language based on the people you interact with most.
Equipment A piece of cloth bearing the crest of your clan, a climber's kit, a homing bird (such as a raven, hawk, or falcon) you can use to communicate with your clan, a set of traveler's clothes, and a pouch containing 5 gp and a gem worth 10 gp.

Features

Envoy of the Clan. As a Seeker, you are the voice of the Chieftain while you are away from the rest of your clan. The way you carry yourself as a representative of the clan affects the way others perceive you, and by extension, your clan. You are tasked with upholding the honor of the clan, and its general reputation in the outside world largely rests on your shoulders. You can keep your clan abreast of your adventures, your findings, and other messages, by using a homing bird. Conversely, the clan can use their own homing birds to reach out to you, provided they have birds that are trained to fly to the area you are in. For the purpose of communicating with your clan, the homing bird counts as a tool you are proficient with. Other uses and purposes for this bird (e.g. as a companion or as sustenance) fall under the appropriate rules in the sourcebooks and are at the discretion of the DM.
