Vantra and the mini-Joyful look forward to the Windtwist Isles in their search for Laken's next essence, but a final task awaits them in Greenglimmer.
Navosh, after reclaiming his title and mantle as Strans of Twisted Vines, must cleanse the rainforest of the enemy's rotting Touch. While he planted enchanted vines in the headwaters to send healing magic throughout the forest, one place needs immediate care; the Bendebares, the grove that is the heart of the Labyrinth of Trees.
His enemy, the Rotting One, is known to him through a listener's stories. The Rotting One sought to bend the heart to their will, and through it, corrupt and control the Labyrinth. Navosh plans to end his influence, but, with confidence shaken, he asks Vantra, if things sour, to cast Clear Rays and eradicate the corruption, which would destroy the heart.
Vantra worries, using Clear Rays will destroy Navosh as well.
Bendebares is an Evenacht novella.
FYI: I recommend reading Greenglimmer first. The novella is not a standalone, and will make more sense if you do.
