My eyes jolted open, the jarring alarm ringing through the room. I groaned as I pulled back the blankets and sheets off of me. I stood up and walked to the closet, getting ready for the day.

After I was ready, I opened the bedroom door to find Mya standing there.

“Hello, Aden.” She turned around, walking down the hall. I followed her. “As today is your first day, you’ll strictly be handling the smaller and more... palatable items. You’ve signed the NDA already, yes?” I shook my head. “Ah, okay, well, that’ll be the first thing we handle today then.”

We arrived at an open door. Through the door, there was a desk with papers and books piled all over it. At the front of the desk, on a name plaque, my name was written.

“Is this my desk? Why is it already a mess?” I walked over to it, running my fingers over it, picking up some of the dust.

“Yes, it’s your desk. The leader before you also used it, and we are not allowed to clean it; only you are.” Mya sighed, looking at me, gently pursing her lips.

I nodded, pursing my lips as well. "Where’s this NDA that you need me to sign?" As soon as the words left my throat, Mya pulled out a packet of papers. I grabbed them and signed on the dotted line, flipping through the various pages and signing wherever I needed to.

"Alright, I believe the military general is waiting for you in the meeting room, you may want to head over there."
