Epilogue
Today was an important day, the Ilmuh1 was going to explain why the Uqaid hated the Samalu so much. Urash'ka waited for teacher to speak, his skin rippled red in impatience. He could feel the rest of the class brimming with anticipation. All Urash'ka knew was that they hated the Samalu, today he would find out why.
The Ilmuh made a long low rumbling growl to call the class to attention and calm everyone down, Urash'ka's red shifted to a serene blue rhythmic pulse. The soothing tone of the Ilmuh's growl calmed his nerves and centered his spirit. Once everyone's pulsing was synchronized the Ilmuh began.
"Descendants, today is the most important day of your lives. You learn why the Samalu must be removed from the sacred Egg." the entire classes auras focused on the Ilmuh. Urash'ka knew this was important and focused all of his attention on what the Ilmuh had to tell them.
"In the Time of Unity all was well and there existed balance between the Uqaid and the N'dgba. We cared for the sacred Egg from within, keeping it's Yolk healthy so that it would feed us with its vital energies. The N'dgba cared for its Shell so that our souls could make the passage up into the underworld. This is why we build our tombs above us, so that our souls may travel to the next worlds and fertilize other Eggs." The Ilmuh paused so that the class could contemplate this, the Time of Unity was generations ago, no one living today could know the peace of the True Unity.
"One day the Samalu came to the Egg in their metal ship. They were not of the egg and did not respect the Unity, they tore into the Shell without respect." Urash'ka's skin rippled white in shock, he could feel that the rest of the class did the same, how could they do something so horrific. The egg was everything, the egg was life. The Ilmuh growled again to calm the class. 'Why would the Samalu do such a thing, didn't they come from their own egg?' Urash'ka thought to himself.
"The Samalu made peace with the N'dgba and traded with them at first, but it was a lie. The Samalu took more and more of the Shell for themselves, eventually forcing the N'dogba into the Yolk which brought contamination into its purity." Urash'ka could feel the anger build in him, how dare the Samalu do such a thing! They had no respect for the Unity, they desecrated the Egg! Every Uqaid was born knowing the love of the Egg, it gave them food, it gave them warmth, it gave them sight. The Ilmuh growled again to get everyone to settle down and listen again.
"We could not let this blasphemy happen unchallenged, but we do not blame the N'dgba. They are the caretakers of our soul realm and were forced into the Yolk because they did not want to perish. When they came to the Yolk they found balance and because of this we let them live in our world." This made sense to Urash'ka, the N'dgba did not belong here with the Uqaid but they understood Unity so it is with tolerance that they live in the Yolk.
The Ilmuh spoke again. "We had to challenge the blasphemy, to try to restore Unity. We went to the Shell to make war with the Samalu with the word of Sutus on our lips. The Samalu's weapons were too strong though and they killed all of our warriors, then they killed all of the N'dgba left on the Shell they could find taking all of the Shell for themselves." Urash'ka's skin rippled white, the Samalu were monsters that only thought to kill.
"The word of Sutus was not strong enough to drive the Samalu off of the Shell, but a new voice whispered to our people. A voice told us told us that if we wanted to get rid of the Samalu permanently we would have to embrace a new word and we listened. The word of Mrtis came to our lips." Urash'ka could feel it now, the word of Mrtis. It spoke of the death of the Samalu, it spoke of the death of their hatchlings, it spoke of the destruction of homes, it spoke of rage. Urash'ka's skin rippled black, he would destroy the Samalu, we would destroy every trace of them, he would bring back Unity.
Urash'ka could stand it no longer! The Samalu came from the sky and brought death! They tried to kill the caretakers! They poisoned the Yolk! Urash'ka filled with rage. He couldn't control himself, he stood and with a great savagery yelled as loud as he could. "Death to the Samalu! I will crush their hatchlings under my foot! I will destroy their nests! I will crush their eggs until no Samalu lives!" The rest of the class joined Urash'ka, they would bring the word of Mrtis to every Samalu and erase them from existence!
The Ilmuh smiled in approval. "Now you understand. The Shell must be wiped clean of the Samalu so that Unity may return. Let the word of Mrtis guide you."
