(the chapter opens with Tenebris and the gang walking through a Sedanss city. )
Keira: We will take the tracks to the edge of Sedanss, then follow the coast of the Frosinn's territory. The pass between Frosinn and Egran is iced over for 70% of the year, so we can walk acrost with no problems.
Tenebris: walk acrost the ice? if we get caught out there will be no cover, and if a battle brakes out, we'll be trapped under the ice.
Keira: exactly, the legions in Egran will never expect us to take that risk.
(tenebris and Keira keep talking in the lead)
Sam: I didn't injure you did I?
Machi: na, im good.
Sam: good, just making sure.
Machi: you know you don't look like it, but you got some serious strength, most legionaries cant block one of my punches.
Sam: Oh, I don't think I could block one of your punches either, if it came down to strength.
Machi: then how'd you...?
Sam: My Gift allows me to set a rule into objects I've put my energy into. the more energy I use the stronger the effect.
Arthor: woah, so cool. but what's a gift? I thought orku was just energy?
Sam: A gift is a technique that is given to each person by the creator, when their born.
Arthor: So then why do I not have a gift?
Sam: you do, you just haven't found out what it is yet.
Machi: my people called it Espiritu. the power that comes from within. it was the true measure of a warrior to find their gift.
Arthor: (he looks at his hands) the power within?
Machi: so you blocked it with a rule?
Sam: I made my sword immoveable before you hit it, and canceled the rule to throw you on the ground.
Machi: that's quite a nifty trick. it wouldn't work a second time though.
Sam: (Smiles) probly not.
(the group stops at the train station. the train pulls in and people get off as the group goes to board.)
Machi: whoa, I've heard of these but none of the villages around Joer have one. (he ducks under the door and sits down one of the benches) (the group sits down)
Arthor: so cool. (he sits down)
(the doors close and the train starts moving slowly forward and speeds up as it goes through the city into the country)
Arthor: (looks at the ground and sees squire pipes running the distance of the car.) what are those for?
Sam: The pipes are filled with Renna.
Arthor: Renna? what does that have to do with the tracks in Sedanss?
Sam: not the city, Renna is water purified by malmite that conducts orku.
Arthor: Tenebris was telling me about that, but he said that only living things produce orku, so how's the tracks moving?
Sam: the conductors use orku through renna to move the tracks. Depending on the size of the tracks, it could take up to 6 people at a time to move from one stop to the next.
Arthor: Orku can do some crazy stuff.
Sam: sure can.
Keira: That's the plan.
Tenebris: Seems like it should work, except one problem. Frosinn's a tribal territory or at least it was the last I remember. Outsiders aren't usually allowed in right? if legionaries go into their territory, they will see it as an act of war.
Keira: only kingdom territory. most of Frosinn's territory is considered neutral ground with legions and merchants, as long as we stick to the outskirts they wont bother us.
Tenebris. ...alright...
(it cuts to them later and arthor and Sam are sleeping on one of the benches at nighttime)
Man: we should be arriving in Wolfpine within the day.
Tenebris: thank you. (the man walks away)
Keira: (eating a piece of bread) You know I'm just trying to keep them safe.
Tenebris: ...I know...
Keira: If Sam wasn't my ark I would never have even brought her.
Tenebris: the worlds a dangerous place. everyone learns that one day. we cant protect them forever.
Keira: (looks sad). . .
Tenebris: but it doesn't mean we stop trying.
Keira: they said tempura started the war. that they had attacked and we were just defending our home. But I knew that wasn't true. I was just a kid but I saw it in your eyes.....you didn't fight because you enjoyed it, or out of duty, you fought because you genuinely wanted to protect people. I wished everyday that I could've done something....to save the man who saved me.
Tenebris: there was nothing anyone could have done then. but we can change what happens now.
Kiera: ...right...yeah, your right. I wont let what happened with tempura happen again.
Machi: sorry to interrupt your heartfelt conversation, but we should talk about what were going to do when we get to Egran, I mean, I have no doubt that your guys are strong. But uh so far I'm counting 4 of us, and a whole kingdoms worth of legionaries on their side.
Keira: our mission is to find Solomon and put a stop to the revolution. not fight the legions. the other will be fighting Egrans legions.
Machi: and by put a stop to it is that like...ya know.
Keira: Hopefully it will not come to that.
Machi: hopefully?
Tenebris: after that we find karri.
Machi: alright, as long as ya guys know what your doing I guess.
Arthor: (Arthor wakes up) uhh, how long did I sleep?
Tenebris: a Few hours.
Arthor: how much longer till we get there?
Tenebris: we still got a while yet.
Arthor: aghh, cant this thing go any faster?
Keira: not without some degree of danger.
Arthor: man.
Tenebris: Enjoy this moment of peace, it may be the last one you get for some time.
Arthor: I guess.
Tenebris: (looks saddened)
Keira: (notices but doesn't say anything)
(the panel cuts to the conductor some time later the sun comes up)
Conductor: now entering Wolfpine, thanks for riding with us folks.
Arthor: Finally. (gets up and starts heading for the door)
(tenebris and machi a bit behind arthor and Keira wakes up Sam)
(the gang get off the train and the wind blows as snow starts to fall)
Keira: (looks at the distance and sees storm clouds gathering) we had better get moving before we get caught in a blizzard.
Tenebris: right. lets get going then. (the group start heading off into the forest.)
CHAPTER 66 BACK ON TRACK
(the chapter opens with the gang walking in the snow covered forest pushing through a blizzard. Keira, Sam and tenebris each holding different colored flames in their hands)
Arthor: (shivering)
Sam: are we sure were going the right way?
Keira: I cant tell. (she takes out a map)
Tenebris: (hears cracking and looks up to see a tree falling and jumps to get Keira out of the way and the map gets knocked out of her hands)
Tenebris: we need to find some shelter!
Keira: Right! (they continue walking forward and find a cave)
Tenebris: (starts a fire in the middle for them)
Machi: Frosinn sure lives up to its name don't it.
Arthor: yeah! why are we even going this way, why couldn't we just go with the rest of the legions?
Keira: Egran's borders have been barricaded and locked down. if we were to directly attack them, it could take weeks to brake through. even with the other immortals. Egrans legions are the biggest among the kingdom powers.
Sam: the civilians have also taken up arms, it's one thing to fight military, it's another thing to fight a whole kingdom.
Keira: if we are successful in our mission, we'll end the war with as little casualties as possible.
Arthor: I guess that's an acceptable answer. but if this blizzard keeps up we wont make it to egran before the other legions start their attack.
Keira: hopefully this storm subsides before then.
Tenebris: (looking out at the storm. he walks back in) we should stay here for the night, it doesn't look like there's any sign of it stopping.
Keira: "Hough" I guess theirs no way to avoid it then. ( opens her backpack and puts two blankets on the ground) I've got two blankets.
Sam: (does the same) I do as well, one for each of us then.
Keira and tenebris: I'll take watch.
Keira: I'm in charge here I will take watch for tonight.
Tenebris: that's exactly why you need your rest. I'll take watch.
(tenebris and Keira stare each other down)
Machi: (whispers to arthor) this is awkward right?
Arthor: totally.
Sam: how about you both take watch, Keira will have the first shift and Tenebris you have the second. that way everyone gets some sleep.
Tenebris: fine by me.
Keira: same here.
(the panel cuts to the now smaller fire and the gang sleeping. Keira standing at the edge of the cave watching the snow fall. theirs a glimmer in the storm)
Keira: (notices) (she hears a crack of wood and grabs her weapon but sees a black wolf staring at her and it starts walking away into the storm) "hough" just a wolf.
(an arrow comes flying at her but her eyes glow and she draws her weapon and deflects it. as several tribe members with bearskin coats and weapons with wolves by their sides, come into view)
Keira: (draws both weapons)
Tribesmen: Útlendingar! [ outsiders! ] (they start rushing in and Keira deflects all of their strikes and sends them back a ways. into the snow. a wolf jumps on her to bite her but she blocks it with her armored forearm and throws it off)
Keira: please I do not wish to fight you. we are just passing through!
(the tribal members keep attacking and shouting)
(the gang wake up and hear the commotion. tenebris rushes out to find Keira being attacked by a number of tribes people)
Keira: Please we mean you no harm, we come in peace!
Tribesmen: þetta eru stríðsþjóðir! [ they are the people of war]
Tribeswoman: þú ert að fara í burtu í okkar landi [ you are trespassing on our land ]
Tenebris: við komum frið [ stop, we come peace ]
young tribe-leader: þeir tala tungumál föðurins [ they speak the father language ] hver ert þú? [ who are you? ]
Tenebris: ferðamenn. horfa á skjól frá stormi [ travelers, looking shelter from storm ]
(one whispers to the leader)
young tribe-Leader: komdu með okkur [ come with us ]
(they put down their weapons slowly and Keira puts her weapons down. everyone's eyes stop glowing)
Keira: what did he say?
Tenebris: he said to follow them.
Keira: if they have better shelter than this cave I'm all for it.
(it cuts to them walking through the forest with the tribes people surrounding them)
Keira: how do you know their language?
Tenebris: I can only understand a little bit, their language is similar to ancient tempurian.
Keira: you are a walking surprise.
Machi: Tempurian, common and giant, this guys good.
Arthor: giant?
Machi: the language my ancestors used.
Keira: so you really are a descendant of giants.
Machi: yeah, what'd you think they meant by giant of joer?
Keira: in my line of work titles rarely define a person correctly.
Arthor: (still shivering) why couldn't we just have stayed in the cave.
(the gang come to a clearing with a large wooden castle with ice covering the walls and towers, many tribespeople watch as the gang enter in the settlement)
(they are taken to the throne room where an older man with a black bears hide and a necklace of bear claws and bones sits on a stone throne)
King: fang, hvað merkir þetta? [ Fang what is the meaning of this ]
young Tribe-leader (fang): Faðir, við fundum þetta fólk á leiðinni til baka frá veiðum. [ Father, we found these people on our way back from hunting.]
King: þetta fólk fær stríð, hvers vegna hefur þú ekki drepið þá? [ these people bring war, why have you not killed them? ]
Tenebris: við tökum frið, ekki stríð [ we bring peace not war ]
King: You... you speak our language? how can this be?
Tenebris: I assume you are king Frosinn, of the wolf tribe.
King: you are correct.
Tenebris: then you might remember the name Verndari?
King: (surprised) Tempurian. but your kind has been dead for generations, how do you remain?
Tenebris: I am the last of my people. Tenebris.
King: hmph. then I suppose it is an honor to have met you here.
Tenebris: the honor is all mine my king.
young tribe-leader (fang): hvað eigum við að gera við þau? [ what should we do with them ]
King: ef þeir koma í friði, þá skulum við snúa aftur til þeirra. [ if they come in peace, then peace we shall return to them. ] you and your friends may stay here Son of Verndari, as honored guests.
Tenebris: thank you very much. (bows and the group follows except machi but Sam elbows him and he bows)
(they follow a young servant with a wolf out of the throne room and the doors close behind them)
CHAPTER 67 A COLD RECEPTION
(the chapter opens with tenebris and the gang walking to their room)
Arthor: you told me tempura was forgotten, but that guy knew you?
Tenebris: Tempura and the tribes have a intertwined history. it was the Tempurians who fought for the tribes when the kingdom powers tried to take their land. although I'm sure the kingdom powers teach a different history now.
Arthor: it sounds like tempura was the god guys in everything, why would the kingdom powers attack then?
Tenebris: Tempura was powerful. we were the peace keepers of the world.....unfortunately the kingdom powers saw us as threat to their kingdoms advancement. with the peace keepers gone, they were free to do what they wanted.
Keira: there was a global war that lasted 25 years. tempura was the catalyst.
machi: and how do you know tenebris?
Keira: I met him when I was a kid.
Machi: but isn't tenebris like super old or something, you look as young as he does.
Keira: you should never ask a woman her age.
Sam: (gestures for machi to bend down and she whispers in his ear)
Machi: she's how old!?
Keira: Sam!
Sam: what? (smiles)
(they come to a hall with a big room with a large fire going in the middle and torches around the room blazing)
Fang: Men will be here to give you blankets.
Tenebris: thank you.
(they sit down around the campfire)
Arthor: you ever think about what happens in your life and just wonder how you got there.
Tenebris: yeah Machi: Nope.
Arthor: why couldn't I just have been born into a normal family and go to school in a normal village.
Tenebris: The creator gives everyone a different path and...
Arthor: You keep saying that. the creator gave you this power, the creator put you on this path. if the creator really put me through this then he must hate me.
Tenebris: (shocked) . . . no, no the creator doesn't hate you.
Arthor: oh yeah, then why is my brother alone out there with the Kongur and I'm stuck in a blizzard with tribe people and legionaries.
Sam: what's wrong with us legionaries?
Arthor: nothing, your fine, its just that I...agh, never mind.
Tenebris: arthor..
Arthor: No, its fine. I'm just need some space. (he walks away)
Tenebris: . . . (his eyes light up and one of his rings light up) (thinks) follow him make sure he doesn't get into trouble.
Machi: (eating some meat)
Tenebris: (looks over at him)
Machi: what?
Tenebris: where did you even get that?
Machi: want some?
(it cuts over to arthor walking down the hall and he walks 2 doors in the hall and ones standing open slightly)
Arthor: hm? (He opens the door quietly and sees a partially covered courtyard with a tree growing in the center he walks in and starts looking around and sees the servant and wolf that led them to the hall are sitting next to it. ) what's he doing?
(the servant is sitting looking at the snow falling on the tree)
Servant: Andaföður, heyrir þú mig? [ Spirit father can you hear me? ] Stríðsmennirnir eru að koma, og ég óttast að vinur minn muni þurfa að berjast. En hann er of ungur, jafnvel þótt það sé hans hlutverk. Vinsamlegast sendið einhvern til að hjálpa mér. [ The war people are coming, and I'm afraid that my friend will have to fight. but he is too young, even if it is his place. please send someone to help me. ] (he starts tearing up) Ég vil ekki missa neinn annan. [ I don't want to loose anyone else ]
Arthor: (thinking) I wonder what he's saying? (one of tenebris spirits slips through the door but doesn't form yet) (arthor steps down and slips on the icy stone stairs and the boy wipes his eyes and looks back and sees arthor)
Servant: outsider, what are you doing here?
Arthor: I was uhh, looking, for the um, for the bathroom. but I couldn't help but notice that you were uh...everything good?
Servant: Good, no. war people are coming. I am scared that the war will come here.
Arthor: Hopefully we will be able to stop that before it happens.
Servant: you are young, do you fight?
Arthor: yeah.
Servant: do they make you fight?
Arthor: no, I fight because....(he thinks for a moment)...because I have someone I want to protect.
Servant: someone to protect? what if you are weak?
Arthor: doesn't matter. if your weak or strong, old or young if you have something to protect. you fight for it.
Servant: (thinks for a moment)
Arthor: anyway...im going...to go...now, so...yeah. (he goes to leave. but the servant grabs his hand.)
Servant: thank you
Arthor: (hesitantly) yeah, no problem. (leaves again)
Servant: (looks at his wolf, then the tree) takk andaföður [ thank you spirit father ]
(tenebris spirit follows arthor out of the courtyard and flies back to tenebris)
Arthor: (walks back into the room)
Tenebris: (notices but doesn't say anything)
Keira: if the storm doesn't let up, we will have to make the journey through the storm, so rest up.
group: right got it alright
(they all lay down and the fire dies down)
CHAPTER 68 HEART OF ICE
(the chapter opens with karri and the dead stars eating some food)
Orion: what do you think their planning?
Vela: I have no idea. nothing good at least.
Karri: maybe they are using you guys as hostages?
Orion: na, we're pirates, the best you'd get for us is a bounty. besides our captain's been captured already, there's no one who'd want us enough to pay a price,
Karri: I got no idea then, usually the Kongur don't take prisoners unless they are hostages.
Vela: well aren't we lucky were the first.
Orion: you said you believed that tenebris guy was coming to save you right?
Karri: and Arthor.
Orion: right, the other small one. there a timeline on that?
Karri: how a I supposed to know?
Vela: your the one who said they were coming.
Karri: yeah but I don't know when, it might be any minuet, it might be a month but I know their coming for me.
Vela: where even are we?
Orion: I overheard the guards saying we were in Egran somewhere. didn't say where exactly though.
Vela: Egran, well that's fantastic.
Karri: what's wrong with Egran?
Vela: Egran's been under the threat of revolution for years now. but I heard recently theirs a new leader the people are getting behind. if we really are in Egran, then your friends wont be able to make it past the border without running into some trouble.
Karri: I know nothing's going to stop them from finding me, weather that be a revolution or the Kongur.
Vela: your delusional.
Karri: thank you. I don't know what that means.
Orion: it aint a complement.
Karri: oh.
(the panel cuts to a mountain somewhere overlooking Eldur from afar. and a boot steps into frame. )
(the panel cuts to the female Kongur leader with blue hair talking to the man in shadow. an assassin comes in to the throne room)
Assassin: sir, he's coming.
man in shadow: where?
Assassin: several miles north of the city a massive energy source has been detected.
Man in shadows: are they ready?
Woman: they have not recovered fully but they should be able to handle the transformation process.
Man in shadow: bring them in.
(the panel cuts back to the cell where karri and the 2 dead stars are talking. the door opens and a few assassins walk in.)
Karri: I've already had two training sessions today, how many more do I have to do.
Kongur leader woman: we're not here for you. (they start to grab Orion and vela.)
Orion: hey, what do you think your doing (punches one to the ground and his eyes glow as he starts fighting)
Vela: let go of me! (struggling against the Kongur)
Karri: what are you doing!?
Kongur leader woman: these pirates are going to play their part in the war effort.
Karri: what does that mean?
Kongur leader woman: this does not concern you boy.
Karri: I think it does! (his eyes spark red)
Kongur leader woman: huh? hmm. bring him as well, if you want to see what is in store for them then we'll show you. (they finally get Orion subdued and they take karri, vela and Orion to the throne room. and they make Orion and vela kneel down on the ground in front of the man in shadows.
Man in shadows: what is he doing here. (looking at karri)
Woman leader: I wanted to test something.
Man in shadows: very well. (he gets up and walks forward in front of vela and Orion and they see his face covered by a black mask with black hair with a white streak in it)
(assassins hold them up)
Orion: whatever you think your doing, when my captain finds out were here, your asking for a beating.
Man in shadows: your captain has been captured, as well as his second in command and the boy. you pose no threat to me.
(walks over to vela and grabs her face)
Man in shadows: it's a shame to destroy such a beautiful flower such as yourself. (vela's eyes glow red and she tries to bite his hand but he pulls it back) ...even if the flower has thorns.
Karri: what are you going to do with them.
Woman leader: silence him (the Kongur put a rope over his mouth)
Man in shadows: (puts his and out and a dark dagger that was stuck into the throne flies to his hand and it is covered in the black energy. ) be still now. this will only take a moment.
Karri: (muffled) nho, sthp!
(the man stabs Orion through the chest with the blade)
Orion: AGHHH! (the black energy rushes from the blade into him and he starts convulsing as his veins turn black)
Vela: THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO HIM!
Karri: NHHOOO (he struggles against the two Kongur holding him)
Orion: (screams in pain as black ichor starts seeping out of his cuts and his mouth. his eyes turn black and the Kongur get thrown off of him. )
Karri: STHHPP! PLHSE! (tears start forming in his eyes)
(the man walks over to vela who is struggling as hard as she can and yelling. )
Man in shadows: (stabs her through the chest and the energy rushes into her body. She looks over at karri while convulsing)
Karri: IHM SMRRY PLHSE! IHM SMRRY. (his eyes light up red and his hands start glowing as he bites through the rope and he screams out!)
Man in shadows: (notices the energy coming from karri) seems like your theory is working.
Woman leader: (evil smirk)
(Orion and vela stop moving and are covered in the black energy)
Karri: ....no....
Man in shadows: hmm, not as resilient as we believed. (he starts walking back to the throne and Orion's hand twitches) hmm? (Orion's hand slams down on the ground as he starts getting up) (vela sits up slowly, both eyes pitch black with specks of red for irises)
Man in shadows: ahh, stronger then I thought.
Karri: what did you do to them?
Man in shadows: freed them from the grasp of the creator. (they both rush at him and go to attack him but he side steps the attack and slices off Orion's arm and kicks vela into the wall. Orion's arm reattaches and gets stitched up by the dark energy and he attacks the man again but he disappears and reappears siting Orion's shoulders and he brakes his neck and sends him to the ground as vela gets up and black flowers form from her body and send black spikes flying at the man who puts his hand out and absorbs the spikes and slashes the air with his blade sending back the dark energy and slicing down vela, he puts his foot on Orion's head) I control you now. and you will do as I say.
Orion: (growls)
(karri falls to his knees) im so sorry...
Man in shadows: your first task is to stop the one they call Rekinn, the fire of Egran. (the panel cuts to the man on the mountain holding a bag on his shoulder wearing Immortal legionary armor with a 2 on it.)
CHAPTER 69 THE CORRUPTING FIRE
(the gang wake up the next morning and get dressed in their warm clothes. )
Servant: food will be ready soon.
Tenebris: thank you.
(the panel cuts to them eating breakfast with the king, queen and fang.
King: I am curious as to why the last tempurian is in my territory?
Tenebris: Egran has blockaded their borders and ports to the south and we needed a way in. we were hoping to not have to bother you, but I guess we got blown off course by the storm.
King: Egran...The war people. they have been encroaching on my territory for decades. although recently they have gotten more aggressive. several of my fishing boats have gone missing, along with my men. I can only assume the borders are defended well acrost the ice.
(Keira looks around and everyone's silent)
king: I can tell by your orku you are no more legionaries. you are the immortal are you not?
Keira: (shocked looks around nervous) yes. I am.
King: it is common knowledge that a legion crossing into another kingdoms land is seen as an act of war, and that immortal knights are a legion onto themselves. why take the chance son of tempura, unless their is something of great value at risk.
Tenebris: (looks at arthor) there is.
King: I would love to hear it.
Tenebris: There is a prophecy of a global war. we think Egran could be the catalyst for it. our mission is to stop the war before it happens.
King: there is something else, I can see it in your eyes.
Tenebris: . . .we are looking for a boy. we have reason to believe he is in egran. but he is here against his will.
King: (suspicious look) well then, if this boy is important enough to you to risk a war then I will respect your decision. If it were my son I would do the same.
(everyone huge sigh of relief)
King: But I do not give second chances, if you enter my kingdom again without proper notification, It will be grounds for expulsion of the legionary and grounds for war.
Keira: we thank you very much for your generosity king Frosinn, we do not wish to take any more of your time. (they start cleaning up)
Tenebris: (notices the boy arthor spoke to last night) I apologies for me asking but, since the storm we have lost direction to egran, we could use a guide to show us where to go.
King: ah, surly. Lykoi, is my royal servant. none other beside fang himself knows the lands better. you may take him with you on your mission.
Fang: (chokes on his food)
King: he has also shown interest in your party.
Lykoi: (surprised)
Arthor: (shocked)
King: (confused) er allt í lagi sonur? [ are you ok son? ]
Fang: (coughing) jeppa [ yep ]
King: good. let us see you off then.
(it cuts to the gang at the front gate with lykoi and his wolf the sun shining)
King: best of luck tempurian. may the andstæðingur be with you on your journey.
Tenebris: thank you my king.
Lykoi: andinn svaraði bæn minni, ég mun berjast fyrir yður. [ the spiritfather answered my prayers, I will fight for you. ]
Fang: Bróðir, ég þarf ekki að berjast fyrir mig, ég er næstur í röðinni, það er skylda mín. [ Brother, I do not need you to fight for me. I am the next in line, it is my duty.]
Lykoi: stríðið fólk hefur drepið marga af okkar tegund, ég vil ekki sjá neitt gerast við þig áður en þú verður höfðingi [ the war people have killed many of our kind, I do not want to see anything happen to you before you become chief ]
Fang: ef það er ekkert sem mun sannfæra þig þá verð ég að sætta þig við það. komdu aftur öruggan bróður. [ if there is nothing that will convince you then I must accept it. come back safely brother. ] (lykoi's wolf says goodbye to Fangs wolf)
(the gang head out into the forest. lykoi walks with his back to his people but tears start forming in his eyes, but he looks at his wolf and cheers up, as the gang disappear into the forest)
