Jax Merrick
Jax Merrick is responsible for maintaining the Ascendant’s fusion reactor and power distribution systems. Having spent decades aboard freighters, mining vessels, and corporate transports, he has developed a reputation for being able to repair almost anything with limited tools and questionable spare parts.
His hands bear countless scars from years spent inside machinery spaces, and his vocabulary consists largely of engineering jargon and terrible jokes. Jax serves as Master Chief Haywood’s most experienced subordinate and often acts as an unofficial mentor to younger engineers.
Although he complains constantly about paperwork, regulations, and corporate bureaucracy, he secretly loves starships and cannot imagine a life away from them.
