Kyra Leipzig oversees the Ascendant’s defensive systems, including its point-defense network, missile countermeasures, and plasma batteries. Though the vessel is designed for exploration rather than combat, Kyra believes that every explorer should be prepared for the worst.
Raised on a frontier settlement that suffered repeated pirate raids, she developed a practical attitude toward danger. Calm under pressure and exceptionally disciplined, she approaches weapons maintenance with the same seriousness a surgeon brings to an operating table.
Off duty, Kyra enjoys strategy games and tactical simulations. Many crew members are surprised to discover that beneath her professional exterior she possesses a dry, often unexpected sense of humor.
