CQC - Has a bonus of +3 to hit within effective range. No disadvantage on attack rolls while in melee.
Hemorrhaging - Targets struck by this weapon must make a Constitution saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Dexterity or Intelligence modifier (whichever is higher) or take 1d8 Bleed damage.
Shrapnel - With each attack, this weapon emits a dangerous bit of shrapnel from its sabots. Every target in front of you inside a 15 foot cone, in the direction you made the attack, must make a Dexterity saving throw against a DC equal to 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Dexterity or Intelligence modifier (whichever is higher). On a failed save, a target takes 1d8 Slashing damage. On a successful save, a target takes no damage.
Loading: Uses a Bonus Action to Fast Reload (involves dropping the magazine to pick up later), requires an action to reload
Jamming: On a critical failure, roll a 1D10, if it lands on a 1, the weapon is jammed and requires a Bonus Action (D&D5E) or an action point (PF2E) to clear the jam
Handling: 2-handed
During weapons trials in the late Interwar period, Koa Straya sought to garner several military contracts with an unconventional bullpup design that fires tiny arrows called Flechettes. It uses saboted ammunition with fin-stabilized tungsten arrows, that sat in a telescoped casing. It used a downwards ejection system once the spent casing was fired. While the weapon wasn't chosen over the venerable A-15 or D-74, it still had several manufactured prototypes, and the blueprints for the weapon are still kept in Koa's archives. The advantage of the weapon's unconventional ammunition is the higher overall armor piercing performance with the elongated flechettes, but they were prone to deviation at longer ranges, and due to materials science at the time, was hazardous to the operator and anyone near the operator. These flaws are why it wasn't adopted. Later, post-cataclysm test models utilized much more advanced materials science and eliminated the shortcomings.
