Wondrous Item
Legendary Trial of the Open Heart
Mantle of Gentle Grace:
While wearing the veil, you gain resistance to psychic damage, and hostile creatures have disadvantage on opportunity attacks made against you.
Aura of Understanding:
Creatures of your choice within 20 feet of you have advantage on Wisdom saving throws and Charisma checks made to de-escalate conflict, persuade peacefully, confess truth, or offer forgiveness.
Silken Reprieve:
When a creature within 30 feet of you is hit by an attack, you may use your reaction to wrap it in a shimmer of harmonic silk, reducing the damage by 3d10 + your Charisma modifier. You may use this ability three times per long rest.
Heart’s Reflection:
As an action, choose one creature you can see within 60 feet. That creature must make a DC 18 Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, it is forced to confront the emotional truth within itself and cannot knowingly speak a lie or take the Attack action until the end of its next turn. On a successful save, it suffers no effect.
Veilstep:
As a bonus action, you may dissolve into soft ribbons of light and song, teleporting up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.
Enhanced Properties (Post-Attunement)
When attuned, The Veil of Open Hearts awakens fully, allowing its wearer to become a living sanctuary of harmony, mercy, and emotional truth.
Sanctuary of the Songmother:
You gain immunity to psychic damage caused by emotional manipulation, magical despair, or memory-based torment. Allies within 20 feet of you gain resistance to psychic damage.
Mercy Without Weakness:
Whenever you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points or choose not to strike a vulnerable foe, you may instead leave it conscious at 1 hit point and remove one condition affecting yourself or an ally within 30 feet.
Open Soul:
You cannot be magically forced to lie, betray, or act against a bond of love, loyalty, or sincere forgiveness. Magic that would twist your emotions automatically fails unless cast by a deity or artifact.
Chorus of Reconciliation:
Once per short rest, you may cause all willing creatures within 60 feet to immediately end one charm, fear, curse, or magical effect rooted in hatred, rage, guilt, sorrow, or division.
Special Ability: Hymn of Reconciliation
Once per long rest, you may invoke Aeloria’s full blessing and unfurl the veil in a radiant chorus of silk, light, and living harmony. As an action, you create a 60-foot-radius aura centered on yourself that lasts for 1 minute.
While this aura persists:
- Allies of your choice regain 3d8 hit points at the start of each of their turns.
- Allies are immune to charm, fear, despair, and magical emotional manipulation.
- Hostile creatures that begin their turn in the aura must make a DC 22 Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, they cannot take hostile actions until the start of their next turn and are overwhelmed by empathy, memory, and emotional truth. On a successful save, they may act normally but have disadvantage on attack rolls.
- Illusions, enchantments, and compulsions rooted in deception, hatred, or emotional corruption are suppressed within the aura.
- If any creature willingly speaks an apology, confession, or act of forgiveness within the aura, it is immediately healed for 6d8 hit points and freed from one curse, disease, or poison.
- The veil appears as a vast curtain of radiant silk and songlight, turning the battlefield into a sacred space where truth becomes impossible to ignore.
The Veil of Open Hearts is a divine mantle of shimmering song-silk and translucent threads of pale gold, rose, and silver, light as breath and soft as a final note fading into stillness. It drapes in flowing layers that catch no wind yet move as though stirred by emotion itself, glowing faintly brighter in moments of honesty, grief, compassion, or reconciliation. Created by Aeloria, the Songmother, this sacred veil embodies her belief that true strength is found not in domination, but in understanding, vulnerability, and the courage to forgive.
