Conch of Tides

Wondrous Item

Legendary Trial of the Tides

Calm the Tempest:
As an action, you can blow the Conch of Tides to calm the seas within a 1-mile radius for 1 hour. All storm effects, both magical and natural, are neutralized, and the waters become tranquil. This effect persists unless disrupted by a god or equivalent force.
Guiding Tide:
When blown, the conch creates a gentle current in a 100-foot radius centered on you, carrying you and your vessel toward a desired destination at double normal speed. This current persists for 8 hours or until you arrive at your destination.
Call of the Abyss:
If the Conch of Tides is blown while underwater, it summons creatures from the depths. Choose one of the following options:
  • Summon 1d4 sea monsters (such as giant sharks, or aboleths) under your control for 1 hour.
  • Summon a massive swarm of smaller aquatic creatures (sharks, eels, or barracudas) that attack all creatures within a 60-foot radius of the conch. Each creature in the area must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw or take 6d8 piercing damage.

Enhanced Properties (Post-Attunement)

Master of Currents:
While attuned to the Conch of Tides, you gain water breathing and a swimming speed equal to double your walking speed. Additionally, you have advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) and Wisdom (Animal Handling) checks when interacting with sea creatures.
Maelstrom’s Command:
Once per short rest, you can use the conch to summon a whirlpool in a 60-foot radius centered on a point within 300 feet. All creatures in the area must make a DC 20 Strength saving throw or be pulled 30 feet toward the center and restrained by the swirling currents. Restrained creatures take 6d10 bludgeoning damage at the start of each of their turns.
Tidecaller’s Boon:
Allies within a 30-foot radius of you gain the ability to breathe underwater and have resistance to cold damage while you carry the conch.

Special Ability: Leviathan’s Summons

Once per long rest, you can blow the Conch of Tides to summon the might of the ocean’s greatest beasts:
  • As an action, unleash a resonant blast heard up to 10 miles away.
  • A Leviathan or another colossal sea creature of Gusuit’s choosing (GM discretion) emerges from the depths within 1 minute. This creature aids you for 1 minute or until your foes are vanquished.
  • While the Leviathan is active, the seas within a 1-mile radius surge with ferocity, creating waves and whirlpools that deal 4d10 bludgeoning damage to hostile creatures at the start of their turn.

The Conch of Tides is a magnificent seashell with a surface that shimmers with the hues of ocean depths—deep blues, emerald greens, and silvery whites. Intricate engravings of swirling waves and monstrous leviathans spiral along its ridges, as though carved by the hands of Gusuit, the god of Dangers at Sea, Waves, Sea Monsters, and Whirlpools.

When blown, this sacred artifact resonates with the primal forces of the ocean. It can calm even the most furious storms or summon the might of the abyssal depths to heed its call. The Conch of Tides embodies the dual nature of the sea: serene and nurturing one moment, deadly and merciless the next.
