The Whispering Needle

Weapon

Legendary Trial of the Quiet Mind

Absolute Silence
Strikes made with the Blade of Silence produce no sound. When you attack a creature with this blade, it must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw or be unable to speak, cast spells with verbal components, or make any noise for 1 minute.
Still Heart
When you score a critical hit with this weapon, the target is immediately paralyzed for 1 minute. At the start of each of its turns, it can repeat the saving throw (DC 20 Constitution) to end the effect. Creatures immune to paralysis are not affected.
Cloak of Silence
While wielding the Blade of Silence, you are constantly under the effect of the Silence spell in a 20-foot radius around you. This radius follows you wherever you go. The spell does not affect you directly, allowing you to hear sounds as normal. You can suppress or reactivate this effect as a bonus action.
The Needle’s Bite
The first attack you make with this weapon each turn automatically has advantage if the target is unaware of your presence. If this attack hits, it deals an additional 4d10 psychic damage as the target’s mind is invaded by whispers of doubt and dread.

Enhanced Properties (Post-Attunement)

Will of Silence
Each time you deal psychic damage to a creature, they have disadvantage on all saving throws until the end of their next turn.
Muffled Movement
You gain a +10 bonus to Dexterity (Stealth) checks, and you cannot be detected by sound-based effects (like Tremorsense) while wielding the Blade of Silence.
The Blade’s Voice
While attuned to this blade, you can communicate telepathically with it. The blade has a calm, serene, and patient personality, preferring quiet solutions to conflict. If you attempt to raise your voice, the blade will softly urge you to remain calm. It can offer subtle guidance, providing advantage on Insight checks once per short rest.

Special Ability: Night’s Lullaby

Once per long rest, you can activate Night’s Lullaby, channeling the full power of The Blade of Silence:
  • As an action, you swing the blade in a wide, sweeping arc, sending out a wave of absolute silence in a 60-foot cone.
  • All creatures of your choice within the cone must make a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw.
  • On a failed save, creatures are paralyzed, deafened, and blinded for 1 minute.
  • On a successful save, creatures are silenced for 1 minute and have disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws.
Creatures under the effects of this ability experience an overwhelming sense of sleepiness, hearing only distant lullabies in their mind. At the end of each of their turns, affected creatures may attempt a DC 22 Constitution saving throw to end the effect.

The Blade of Silence, also known as The Whispering Needle, is a sleek, needle-thin rapier of ethereal silver, its surface so smooth that it appears to absorb light rather than reflect it. Its guard is fashioned in the shape of a crescent moon, and the hilt is wrapped in velvet-like black leather. The tip of the blade is so sharp that it can pierce even the finest armor with ease, and when swung, it makes no sound. Not even the faintest whoosh of air follows its path.

This artifact was gifted by Remina, goddess of Sleep, Comfort, Quiet, Short Rests, and Naps, as an instrument of stillness and quiet judgment. Those struck by the blade feel the silence seep into their bones, robbing them of their voice, their thoughts, and their will to act.
