I've been working on the intro to Evenacht, as I hope to submit it to best world for WAWA. I've created a new graphic for the elevator pitch, which is the first thing you see. You can check it out here. The rest of the page still needs some love, but I'm getting there.

And Spooktober will star Fyrij, but I won't get that done until this weekend. My time has been spent making music for social media ads that people will probably never see.

And that's it for me! Have a great weekend, all!

We often mistake silence for peace.

Whether it is a fractured holiday dinner where every smile is an armed perimeter, or a tense boardroom meeting where rival factions calculate their next maneuver beneath polite corporate jargon, that claustrophobic quiet is rarely serenity. It is a ceasefire. In our everyday lives, that tension simply ruins an evening; across the jagged terrain of Aitheia, failing to read that silence will leave you bleeding out in the mud.

In this world, safety is never a moral shield handed down from the heavens. It is a cold, evolving ledger where leverage must strictly match leverage. True stability does not arrive because people become benevolent; it arrives when fighting becomes too expensive to sustain, or when survivalism forces violence to a grinding halt. When opposing greeds find a temporary, trembling equilibrium, we call the resulting breath a truce.

We watched that brutal arithmetic play out on the docks of Vagnithane with Duke Cedrik Dawntreader, and even more starkly in the loft of the Laughing Gull. Talathis expected a classic fireside reunion—a tearful mother waiting to be saved. Instead, Jayne Dortwell offered only the coiled stillness of a veteran spy. Her entire existence had been a tactical silence; she paid with her tongue to buy the fog required to hide her son. Talathis’s grief, his perceived exile, his struggles—all of it had been a curated myth deployed by his family to keep him alive.

When the protective lie collapses, what remains is the raw weight of the world. That brings us to our newest double-chapter release:

• Chapter 17: "The Siren’s Last Song"
Talathis steps directly from quiet shock into the jagged wreckage of his unwritten reality. With his foundational myth dissolved into ash, he is forced to reckon with the clandestine war his parents fought in the dark. Information in Vagnithane is a double-edged blade, and we watch what happens when an unmoored survivor picks it up to carve a path through a hostile harbor town.
• Chapter 18: "Eyes of the Shadow"
We make a surprise jump back to Qianna Lockstone. Following the horrific turning point where she hollowed an Elowyn’s soul into an agent of the dark, Qianna retreats behind her hyper-vigilant "winter mind." Moving through the ancient iron-pines of the Lorath Forest on an invisible chain held by a monster, she confronts the optical deception between radiance and decay—and faces our first encounter with the Silver Wolf, searching for the courage to keep an ember burning beneath the ash.

Greeting, Cartographers and Lore-Keepers!

Over at Raven & Quill, we just published a deep dive into the psychological and geopolitical mechanics of our world, Aithyris (currently updating the master atlas entries to reflect the name change from Aitheia!).

In our latest entry, "The Complicity of the Cage: When the Rust Becomes the Bone," we break down the visceral cost of survival in the Saga universe. We explore:

• The Physics of Pretending: Why empathy requires warmth, and how psychological "rime" or "winter" functions as a biological/magical cloaking mechanism for the Shandaryn.
• The Cost of Complicity: How localized, individual trauma in places like the sunken cavern of Azdam mirrors the geopolitical rot of entire kingdoms making panicked calculations.

How do you handle psychological armor and the lingering consequences of character choices in your worldbuilding?

One of my fav characters I made in my book. He's a real menace, that is at best argued as a loose canon being an Orc Slayer, his hatred for the Horde knows no bound!
That said, his dialogue is fun to write, a mixture of cockiness, vulgarness and poetic flair, along with a northerner's accent to lace his voice.
He is brutal for all the right reasons but dangerously power-hungry. He's practically warped by his need for vengence, always on his one-man campaigns against the orcs for what they did to him in his past.

Of course now, he is called upon for a greater purpose than just endlessly slaying orcs in my book.

Developing and editing the second book of my saga is going smoothly, I believe.

The bloat is mostly gone, a few chapter rewrites have definitely enhanced the quality, and I’ve been adding smaller scenes to further enrich the characters beyond simply knowing them as a cool elf assassin, a rogue vigilante with a badass mask, or the rest of the companionship by surface alone.

Anyway, this means more lore will be coming to my world here on World Anvil, although I still have some empty articles I’ve yet to complete due to limited time. One of those is the Immortal Lords - essentially god-like entities who rule entire planets of their own out in the cosmos of my fantasy setting. Their direct influence on Kyfeia is small, which is why they often rely on their cults and followers.

With that said, I should soon write another character article on an important figure who will be featured in either Book 3 or Book 4 when the time comes:

The Makerbound Sovereign of Veros.

She is the 5th “Chosen Queen” ruling Veros, the land of the Wild Elves. Rulership in that realm is not traditional. It is not inherited by blood, nor seized by force.

It is gifted to someone deemed worthy of the title by the Makers.

Thanks for reading!

Greetings, fellow world-builders and architects.

I’ve just released Issue 12 of the Raven & Quill, alongside the perspective shift moving between the isolating fog of Chapter 14 and the upcoming visceral nightmare of Chapter 15.

This week’s entry explores the unseen war at the drafting table: The Outline vs. The Draft. As a planner, I design deeply interconnected matrices looking out generations. But when you sit down to put meat on the bones, characters stop being compliant chess pieces. Forcing them to satisfy a contrived plot-post violates their internal logic. Two days ago, a major binary state in the timeline changed, and the plan had to be thrown out.

The wildest part of this structural shift is what I call Accidental Armor. The emotional hardening forged for Talathis in Chapter 14 was meant to prepare him for a plot trajectory that has now been completely deleted from the future timeline. Yet, the armor still holds the exact structural weight of the new reality.

In our next issue, we step out of the stillness and into Chapter 15, "The Flesh in Winter." We will plunge into the sickening reality of an autonomy hijacked, exploring the parasitic mechanics of a cage made not from metal, but from flesh.

When was the last time the outline of your world completely shattered, only to reveal that your subconscious had already built a bunker for the storm? Let's discuss how you handle it when your characters break their scripts.

Talalae, a Wild Elf assassin whose story is less about cruelty and more about choice.

She is lethal with a bow, graceful in violence, and often mistaken for a simple hired killer by those who know only the rumors. But beneath the confidence, humor, and sharp charm is someone deeply burdened by the lives she has taken - especially the ones she should never have accepted.

What interests me most about Talalae is the line she draws for herself. She does not deny what she is, but she refuses to kill blindly anymore. Tyrants, abusers, predators, monsters those are the targets she allows herself. Anything else, no matter the coin or reward, is a line she will not cross again.

How do you write characters who are useful, but dangerous?

I’ve been thinking about one of my own characters lately: Jake, a Heartlander battlemage whose command of destructive magic makes him invaluable in war, and deeply unsettling to fight beside.

He is not the heart of the group, nor its conscience. He is the edge.

The kind of companion who can break a stalemate, save lives, and terrify enemies… while also dragging the people around him closer to choices they may never forgive themselves for.

I find these characters interesting because they are not villains, but they are not exactly pure heroes either. Their usefulness becomes part of the danger. The group needs them, but trusting them fully may be impossible.

Do you have characters like this in your worlds, of allies whose power, methods, or temperament make them both necessary and frightening?

How do you balance writing your story with updating World Anvil?

I love using World Anvil as a home for my setting, it helps not to store everything in documents, but lately I’ve struggled to divide my energy between writing, editing, promotion, and building out lore articles.

Most of my focus right now is on the next volume of my epic fantasy saga, especially edits, rewrites, and new scenes. I haven’t posted a proper new World Anvil article in quite a while, some of them are empty for the time being.

That bothers me a little, because I want the world to feel alive outside the books too. I want the histories, cultures, characters, races, and major events to have a place readers can explore.

At the same time, the books themselves have to come first.

For those who both write stories and use World Anvil, how do you keep the balance without feeling like one side is being neglected?

Greetings, fellow writers and creatives.

The latest update is live, bringing us to a profound crossroads in the Saga.

In Raven & Quill #10 ("The Predator’s Rust"), I dive into the behind-the-scenes of Chapter 12. We talk about the "Window of Decay"—a narrative constraint that strips away technical jargon to focus on how the world punishes the body. It is a study in the "Anti-Triumph": Qianna broke her cage, but her evolution has isolated her from the very people she saved.

In Chapter 13 ("The Silent Force"), we pivot to Krysaalis navigating the psychological warfare of the Captain’s Gallery. It is a chapter about the Somatic Debt of masks and the friction of a shandaryn lifespan witnessing human mortality.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts: Did the shift in Qianna’s demeanor catch you off guard, or did you feel the lock snapping?

The Cascading Cost: Why Magic Isn’t a "Long Rest"

What happens when the universe demands a second miracle while your biological bank account is already overdrawn?

In Raven & Quill #9 ("When the Tank is Empty"):

• I explore the Cascading Cost—the brutal reality of performing a miracle when your tank is already in the negative.
• We revisit the aftermath of Chapter 11, where Krysaalis had to guide a trauma-birth with burned hands and zero magical reserves.
• I break down how this biological toll prevents the Grimdark Trap, ensuring that darkness in the story is always an earned, structural consequence rather than gratuitous misery.

New in Chapter 12 ("Rusty Cage"):

• We shift gears to Qianna, surviving her own freezing crucible in the Lorath woods.
• Witness the darkest evolution of the Cascading Cost: weaponizing trauma to survive when hope and agency are stripped away.

Endurance is the true equalizer. Read the latest to see how the flesh receipt is collected when the magic runs out.

The Taste of Ash and the Physics of Storytelling

Chapter 11 ("Ash & Breath") is now LIVE. We follow Krysaalis into the aftermath of the wreckage of the Loping Lynx, where the air is thick with the scent of scalded pine and the salt-rimed iron of a fresh disaster.

In this world, every manipulation of the world requires a biological toll. As Krysaalis reaches for the truth, the universe demands its pound of flesh.

Also inside R&Q #8:

I am pulling back the curtain on the Zero-Sum Axiom. We’re discussing why I built a cognitive pantheon of AI—The Physicist, The Archivist, and The Saga Master—not to make writing easier, but to enforce constraints. I’m sharing how this architecture prevents context collapse and ensures that magic never feels like a cheap illusion without a thermodynamic cost.

I trade administrative exhaustion for the agonizing, singular burden of finding the thematic truth.

Read the latest now and let me know: How do you feel about magic systems where the hero has to pay a kinetic tithe for every miracle?

The Magic of Aknos

In Aknos, magic is not merely a force — it is the very foundation of the world. But it was not always so. Long ago, magic flowed freely, wild and untamed. Anyone bold enough could seize it… and chaos followed.

To protect the world, ancient mages bound this power into immense crystals — vast monuments of light and energy. From these anchors of order, smaller shards were carved and spread across the realms.

Each shard resonates with a different discipline, such as:

Fire

Light

Earth

Spirit

Vitality

…and many more yet to be discovered.

It is from these shards that mages draw their strength. Every spell, every protection, every revelation begins here — drawn from the crystal, shaped by will.

And you — if you could hold a crystal shard in your hands, which would you choose?
