Upgrade
The sensor is an upgrade that can be installed into a multitude of implants such as an ocular implant, an aural implant or even a bionic limb. In the case of a bionic limb it can enhance the sensor suite of the limb thus providing the same or greater sensitivity than an organic arm, or it can be set to detect other forms of energy or material. If the sensor is installed to detect pressure, you no longer suffer the penalty for sensing pressure and detail with your bionic limb, as the new sensor is far superiour to the stock sensors in the limb.
A sensor can only detect one of the below things, but there is nothing stopping you from installing more than one sensor. In the case that you are installing the sensor into a bionic limb, the procedure is superfiscial rather than requiring any surgery.
The sensor is connected to the nervous system and can report the presence and strength of whatever it is detecting in a similar sensation to pressure on the skin or a tickling sensation. If the sensor is connected to a NeuroComp you can get an exact reading of the pressure, temperature, voltage, current, mass of metal, distance to mass etc.
