A Goobling is a miniature, semi-sentient gelatinous cube bred through alchemical mischief and magical whimsy. Originally created by the eccentric elven apothecary Ginny Vine, these pocket-sized blobs of living jelly were meant to be nothing more than novelty cleaners—adorable little slimes that could dissolve grime and carry small herbs.
But something about their creation—perhaps a drop too much moonroot, or the influence of Shirah's ancient magic—made them stick. Literally and emotionally.
Now Gooblings are clever, loyal, and strangely expressive. They bond quickly with those who shape them during their formation ritual, often reflecting a shard of their creator’s personality. Each Goobling is a unique hue, texture, and temperament—some smell like vanilla, others leave trails of glitter or frost behind them. They are excellent at slipping into places they shouldn’t be, eating things they shouldn’t eat, and cleaning up messes no one else wants to touch.
Though not particularly dangerous on their own, Gooblings can deliver a surprising acid nibble when provoked. More importantly, they are useful, curious, and loyal to the end—even if the end is very sticky.
