Staff of Stars

Staff

Legendary Trial of the Celestial Balance

Malleable Weapon:
As a bonus action, you can reshape the Staff of Stars into any +3 weapon of your choice (e.g., longsword, bow, spear). This weapon form retains the staff’s magical properties and counts as magical for overcoming resistance and immunity to non-magical attacks and damage.
Spellcasting Focus:
The Staff of Stars acts as a spellcasting focus. While holding it, you gain a +3 bonus to spell attack rolls and your spell save DC.
Starlight Storage:
You can store the staff in the heavens as an action. While stored, the staff becomes a constellation visible only to you. As long as you can see the night sky, you can retrieve the staff as a bonus action.
Radiant Burst:
When you strike a creature with a melee attack using the staff (or a weapon form), you can unleash a burst of starlight. The target takes an additional 3d10 radiant damage. This ability can be used three times per long rest.
Celestial Vulnerability:
The staff draws its power from the stars, making you vulnerable when cut off from them. If you cannot see the sky for more than 24 hours, you lose the staff’s bonuses to attack and spellcasting until you can once again see the heavens.

Enhanced Properties (Attuned)

Celestial Resilience:
While attuned to the staff, you gain resistance to radiant and necrotic damage. Additionally, you have advantage on saving throws against spells and effects originating from celestial or fiendish beings.
Cosmic Spellweaving:
When you cast a spell that deals damage, you can change its damage type to radiant. Additionally, once per turn when you deal radiant damage, you can add an extra 2d10 damage.
Constellation Form:
As an action, you can transform the Staff of Stars into a constellation that hovers above you, radiating celestial energy for 1 minute:
  • You emit bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet.
  • You can use a bonus action on each of your turns to fire a ray of starlight at a creature within 60 feet. The target takes 6d8 radiant damage unless it succeeds on a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw.
  • Creatures of your choice within the bright light regain 2d10 hit points at the start of their turn.
Once this effect ends, you cannot use it again until you complete a long rest.

Special Ability - Starfall

Once per long rest, you can invoke the full power of the Staff of Stars, calling down a meteor shower in a 60-foot radius centered on a point you can see within 120 feet. Each creature in the area must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes:
  • 10d10 radiant damage.
  • Half as much damage on a successful save.
  • Additionally, the area becomes difficult terrain for 1 minute as starlight imbues the ground with celestial energy. You and your allies can move through this terrain as if it were normal ground.

The Staff of Stars is a radiant artifact crafted from pure starlight, imbued with the celestial power of Idozar, the god of Peace, Balance, Space, and Time. It shifts and shimmers, its form malleable and luminous, reflecting the constellations of the night sky. The staff can be stored in the heavens and retrieved whenever the sky is visible, making it a constant and eternal companion for its wielder. Both a weapon and a spellcasting focus, the staff embodies the limitless potential of the cosmos.
