With a bundle tucked under his arm, Aniks leaped off the front of the train. On the threat of stabbing if Aniks didn't return quickly he had made sure he wasn't distracted as he gathered pillows and blankets from their cabin for his drowsy wife. Though he had checked up on the drow couple as he passed their cabin. Aniks had found Celu sitting on a much soft patch of grass rather than in the stone room the Divine Queen had been in. Aniks approached unwrapping the bundle under his arm "I'm surprised I hadn't found you reading my Dreamcatcher."
The drow couple, when he'd checked, had both drawn weapons - a surprise, perhaps, since Aniks didn't remember the quiet clerk having blades. But he looked nervous - maybe not used to them, then. Or maybe it was that Aniks looked so unlike himself.
Celuriel was curled up on the grass as if awaiting him. She glared. "sleepy. I won't be able to focus."
I guess not all drow in this country are trained with blades. Aniks' face was surprised at the weapon draw. Still lifting the draconic mask showing the rest of his face "Can't stay long, but I am glad to see you two are all right."
Aniks sat down across from her, tucking a pillow under the sleepy elf's head. "I'm not surprised, I bet you'll sleep rather well tonight."
The random elf appearing did not seem to settle the couple, but Aniks was too busy to worry about that.
Celuriel rolled back onto the pillow, blinking heavily at her partner. "you can read to me if you want books. or we can talk."
Before an answer was given, Aniks' ear rose to listen to Burdyr's reminder about protecting their dreams in the descents. "How about both, when you feel like you're about to sleep I'll set up a tent and read to you. Speaking of sleeping, can I see your hand?
She gave him a long look. "why?"
"So I can protect your dreams tonight."
Celuriel glared. "I protect dreams. what are you going to do?"
A soft smile crossed his face at his wife's glare. "A spell designed to protect dreams impowered by Pharasma's Repose domain. Extra help doesn't hurt, especially given our dreams lately."
"...fine. but I get to protect your dreams too." She held up a hand towards him, expecting him to take it and join her at least temporarily. "do you think Avariel is dreaming well?"
"Yes and it's filled with gold and knives she took from your display. Showing it to us proudly." With her hand in his, Aniks drew on his powers, as well as Pharasma's casting the protective spell Dream Shield. Aniks shifted to the ground next to her. "I've never asked before, how do you protect my dreams?"
Celuriel affixed him with her most annoyed look, though the sting of it was lessened by the way she immediately nestled next to him as he joined her. "by using magic. there is a ritual." She seemed unwilling to elaborate.
It was only when the elf was comfortable, that Aniks leaned over and kissed her temple. Unclasping his cloak and draping it over the both of them. "Thank you. I don't say that enough when you're protecting me like that." Aniks pulled Celu a bit closer resting his head on her, eyes closed "Dreams aside, I am glad I was able to take you out on the dance floor."
It was perhaps a pity that he'd shut his eyes, for it meant Aniks missed one of his wife's rare small smiles - and one exclusively for him, at that. She made a noise of agreement. "we should dance more. the others were better at it."
“Was that an invitation to join you when you've been practicing at home?” While not often, Aniks had on occasion caught his wife learning to dance, but hadn’t said anything. “And I can’t say how well the others were doing. I wasn’t really paying attention to them.”
