Journal Entry#95: Homebound

by Aniks Aliforn

For three weeks, we remained unconscious. In that mental dreamscape where we fought, our bodies remained asleep, slowly dying as our bodies reflected the injuries we sustained within the Princess’s dream. Talinde had done what he could to support us. However, did Riven and Elias appear in the dungeon by ley jumping? I should come up with a term for that. Still, Elias had looked at the Princess, who had a physical shard on her face. It was apparently a very tense moment before we had woken up.

More scary than those missing three weeks was when Azyel left a note and woke up before us. It simply said.

“Gonna get me shirt back.”

We had woken up in a room within the palace, having been moved from wherever he had been. We had been told about our run-in with Riven and Elias, along with the people they had kidnapped. Cyne’s mother and the Princess of Medimia had been returned to us in our sleep. Apparently, Cerdwen and the Medimian Princess had struck up something akin to a friendship. Our brief interaction with the Princess let us know two things.

One, they are very, very sheltered.

Two, and unknowingly racist. Referring to Kraia as a servant. Which, given Idonia’s reaction, was telling. A little crack in that armor of hers. That might have been the closest we have ever gotten to her showing embarrassment. Still, they were curious children and asked a lot of questions.

Avoiding the nobles who wanted to speak with us, we were eventually summoned to Princess Chandna's chambers. She was sleeping, and her father had summoned us. He asked for an explanation of what had happened. So, to the best of our abilities, we explained, admitting a few details ourselves. However, Chandna herself, in her false slumber, had filled in the rest.

What was told in that room will remain in that room. The nation was fragile after being affected by a shard, a new queen to take the throne. Needless to say, she had allies in us. However, it would have been best if he had not remained for long. Collectively, we promised we would return if she ever called on us.
Then the palace went into a panic, as during our conversation, the Princess had gone into labor and didn’t want to tell us mid-conversation. We quickly left the room, calling for guards and nursemaids.
Before we left, having left Nizar in the hands of Nyctria and Fenviar, Nyctria asked if we could check on him every once in a while, as letting him stay with us would not be the most stable life for a ten-year-old. Nyctria agreed, in addition to wanting to talk to Celuriel and me again. Then she pointed to Talinde and said she also wanted to speak with him.

Our return to Ironfalls was shortly after we sorted our affairs in Shiar. The Medimian faction left, and we left Azyel in Shiar. To be honest, we were all collectively done with this continent. Following us were Naseem and Tejika. I quickly gave Naseem directions to get Tejika some rest. Given that we destroy her god’s soul. Upon our immediate arrival, we messaged Cyne, who arrived shortly after. Wrapping his mother in a hug. Followed shortly after was a golden dragon who tackled and kissed Ashlyn. Mary had transformed back after the talking.

We wanted to get out of the cold, as we had been in hotter climates for months now. We quickly entered a partial shop. Kind of taking over the shop. However, we did pay them well. Cyne got all the information we could provide outside our infernal bounded information. Overall

P.S. Also, when we went to check on Tejika and Naseem the day after, we saw the physical effects of what happened to a soul empowered by a deity. With her god removed rather violently, Tejika was left blind, their soul a little dull in color, and cracks where her god had filled in. A fair few of us turned to look at Licia. Ashlyn seems to want to heal her.
